ABOUT
Based in Austin, Texas, Suzanne VanRandwyk is an up-and-coming independent singer-songwriter with a penchant for writing infectious music and relatable narratives.
When her dad gave her a guitar for her 13th birthday, Suzanne immersed herself in folk-rock music from the 60s and 70s by acclaimed acts like John Denver, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Janis Ian, and Joni Mitchell. When she turned 20, Suzanne enlisted in the US Air Force and put her music aside while she served her country. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the USAF, she settled in Central Massachusetts, where a co-worker introduced her to Tres Dias, a 3-day spiritual-growth weekend. Singing with the others in the group rekindled Suzanne’s love of music. Over the next decade, she participated in many weekends, leading the music team.

In 2004 Suzanne and her husband, Michael, relocated to Austin, TX to be near her family. A few years later, she discovered Girl Guitar, a music school for women, where she learned new techniques as well as how to perform onstage. Eventually she tried her hand at the songwriting class where her singer-songwriter journey began. An avid storyteller, Suzanne is greatly influenced by real life, drawing inspiration from personal experiences and hardships. Combining elements of folk-rock, indie-pop, country, Americana, and the blues, she creates heartfelt songs that tell stories of everyday people in vivid detail.

In 2019, Suzanne took a break from performing to stay home and care for her ill mother, Ruth Brown. It was during this time together that Ruth suggested making a debut CD. With her mother’s encouragement, at the age of 59, Suzanne went into the studio and came out with ten original songs, nine of which her mother was able to listen to before sadly passing away in March 2022.

Now, with the release of the CD, “Kiss Me Again”, Suzanne is once again ready to take the stage and re-engage with her audiences, sharing joy and pain through her words and melodies, letting her listeners know that they are never alone in their life journeys.
As a solo artist, band member, and with Girl Guitar, Suzanne has performed at many Central Texas venues. In Austin she’s gigged at Antone’s, Hole in The Wall, One-2-One, Lucky Lounge, Strange Brew, Speakeasy, Hotel Vegas, Skylark Lounge, Sahara Lounge, Big Easy, Carousel Lounge, Little Longhorn Saloon, The Highball, Rattle Inn, TCM Festival at Central Market, Fair Bean Coffee, Opa Coffee & Wine, House Wine, Ruta Maya, Viva, Mean Eyed Cat, Sam's Town Point, and Starbucks.
